In conjunction with the celebration of the life and legacy of our nation’s 16th President, Abraham Lincoln, Second Circuit Judge Lindsey Waldrop participated in a reading project of the Illinois Judges’ Association for elementary school children. Judge Waldrop joined many judges across the state who made classroom appearances to read and discuss the history of President Lincoln during the month of February in honor of his birthday. The program is aimed at children in grades K-4 to encourage the appreciation, value, and enjoyment of reading. The Illinois Judges’ Association also donates books to the classrooms participating in the program.
Judge Waldrop visited the Sumner Attendance Center and commented on her involvement with the program stating, "I was honored to participate in the "Judges Go to School Day" and spend time reading to and interacting with our fourth grade students. Programs like this reinforce the importance of literacy, education, and positive community engagement.”
