Richland County’s “Lawyer in the Library” Offering Spring Appointments Now through March

The Second Judicial Circuit’s “Lawyer in the Library” Program for Richland County has announced upcoming appointment dates for January through March. Retired Associate Judge Kimbara Harrell is scheduled to meet with interested parties at the Olney Public Library located at 400 West Main Street, Olney, twice a month and all interested persons are encouraged to participate.

The program provides a licensed attorney for 20-minute appointment periods to assist individuals with free legal coaching, document review, assistance with electronic filing, and referrals to additional services. These free services are made possible by grant funding obtained by Second Circuit Chief Judge Melissa Morgan from the Illinois Supreme Court Commission on Access to Justice and the Administrative Office of the Illinois Courts. Anyone residing in the Second Circuit may participate.

Spring appointments can be scheduled between the hours of 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm on the following dates: January 21, January 28, February 18, February 25, March 18, and March 25.

Pre-registration is required and participants may contact the Olney Public Library at (618) 392-3711 to schedule their appointments. Participants are asked to bring all paperwork related to their legal questions with them and sign in at the desk upon arrival at the library. Due to limited appointments, persons can only be seen once every 30 days.
