The Second Judicial Circuit is proud to announce the Franklin County Circuit Court has received grant funding in the amount of $213,959.74 from the Illinois Supreme Court and the Administrative Office of the Illinois Courts. Chief Judge Melissa Morgan applied for the Technology Modernization Grant in the fall of 2024 for technology upgrades to modernize the delivery of court services.
The funding was sought to purchase new computers, monitors, over-head projectors for evidence display in the courtrooms, electronic citation software, and other technology equipment including an outdoor electronic sign. All equipment has now been purchased with the grant award, and the electronic sign was installed this week.
Chief Judge Morgan expressed her gratitude for the award stating, “The Second Circuit is extremely grateful to the Supreme Court and the Administrative Office of the Illinois Courts for this generous award. I am especially excited about the outdoor signage. Improving the flow of information is vital to expanding access to justice in our communities and this sign allows for the efficient exchange of that information. We can now notify the public about courthouse operations and immediately share important news, such as Amber Alerts and severe weather warnings, which is a valuable resource to the people and communities we serve.”
The Second Judicial Circuit is comprised of twelve counties: Crawford, Edwards, Franklin, Gallatin, Hamilton, Hardin, Jefferson, Lawrence, Richland, Wabash, Wayne, and White.
