Edwards County Court Awarded Over $45,000 for Technology Upgrades

The Second Judicial Circuit is proud to announce that Edwards County Circuit Court has been awarded a technology grant for the third consecutive year from the Technology Modernization Funding Program offered by the Illinois Supreme Court and the Administrative Office of the Illinois Courts.

Edwards County Resident Judge Michael Valentine and Circuit Clerk Margaret Branum applied for the funding made available to county courts throughout Illinois to upgrade equipment and modernize the delivery of court services.  This year’s grant of $45,512.26 will fund new scanners, monitors, a copier, computer software maintenance and other technology including electronic legal research subscription services.

Second Circuit Chief Judge, Melissa Morgan stated, “Over the last two years, Edwards County Circuit Court has been fortunate to receive grants that have enabled them to upgrade and maintain equipment without having to pass those costs on to the people of Edwards County.  This year’s award of $45,512.26 brings the total of grant funding they have received to $124,075.57.  I commend Judge Valentine and Circuit Clerk Branum for their work in this process and we greatly appreciate the Illinois Supreme Court and the Administrative Office for this generous award.”

The Second Judicial Circuit is comprised of twelve counties:  Crawford, Edwards, Franklin, Gallatin, Hamilton, Hardin, Jefferson, Lawrence, Richland, Wabash, Wayne, and White.
