-Franklin County Probation Officer Honored

Second Circuit Chief Judge, Melissa A. Morgan is proud to recognize former Franklin County Probation Officer, Matthew Davis for his distinguished career as an Adult Probation Officer with the Second Judicial Circuit. Officer Davis was recently honored in a ceremony at the Franklin County Courthouse for his 22 years of service to the Circuit.

Matthew Davis began his employment on August 2, 2000, as an Adult Probation Officer. In 2012, he also assumed the role of Franklin County Drug Court Probation Officer, assisting in the development of this specialty court, and he continued in these dual positions for the remainder of his service.

Illinois Probation Officers are tasked with monitoring offenders on probation; and in doing so, they conduct interviews and assessments, determine appropriate levels of supervision, develop case plans, and monitor compliance with these plans and any other court-ordered terms and conditions. Illinois

Probation Officers also make appropriate referrals to service providers, monitor their clients’ residence, employment and other collateral contacts which are necessary to document the clients’ behavior. They must also be prepared to complete reports for the courts and testify when required. Officer Davis assumed not only these duties, but the responsibilities associated with his drug court position.

Second Circuit Chief Judge Morgan recognized Officer Davis and stated, “Matthew Davis has shown exemplary service to our court system throughout his career. His strong work ethic, commitment to protect our communities, and dedication to his clients and colleagues are just a few of the qualities that distinguish Officer Davis as one of the best of the best. It has been my privilege to work with Officer Davis over the years and it is my honor to acknowledge his distinguished career. On behalf of the Second Circuit, I extend our congratulations to him as he now embarks on a new career path. I am confident he will continue to serve as a leader in our communities with integrity and professionalism and the Second Circuit wishes him continued success.”

Director of Court Services for the Second Circuit, Darla Fitzjerrells also added, “Probation Officer Matt Davis has been a dedicated employee to the Second Circuit throughout his employment. He has worked tirelessly for the safety and betterment of the community and clients he has supervised in Franklin County. Matt was instrumental in the development and success of the Franklin County Drug Court Program and his absence will be tough to fill. The Second Circuit Probation and Court Services Department wishes Matt the best of luck in all of his future endeavors.”
